England v Belgium
Rice is playing. Kane on the bench as Calvert-Lewin starts. Henderson is captain.

I'm quite looking forward to this. Let's hope we give them a good game.

How Pickford retains his place is beyond me.
Pope should be there it's not as if Pickford has any confidence at the moment

Re: England v Belgium
Totally agree. Pope is the better goalkeeper and has more form and confidence. Picking Pickford and Trippier at left wing-back are bizarre team selections from Southgate.

I'm not sure I see the logic here.

I understand the concept of Pickford not having let England down, but Pope has been the better keeper for a least a year, probably two.

Why is Pickford being afforded a privilege that wouldn't be given to an outfield player?

How was that not a goal ? no VAR and the flag went up well after they scored !!

Weird

That was dire from Dier.

What a shit attempt at a tackle by Dier. Actually didn’t think they’d give it.

For the disallowed goal the guy was marginally offside in the first place so no real issue for me, even if it wasn’t actually disallowed for that.

with the quality of players available to Southgate, why does he pick the likes of Pickford, Dier & Trippier?

Belgium are a very good side but England look way out of their depth here.

Pathetic...irresponsible defending so far...

Southgate is an appalling manager. You can't win games against teams like this if you're going to play Eric fucking Diet at all, let alone out of position. Then he goes and plays without a left back. There's no need for it. The bloke is an absolute fuckwit. Piss poor lineup.

I see our midfield wizard, the English Pirlo has got a game, Henderson just cannot play the ball forward, make “the crab” Wilkins look positively attacking.

Strange team today

Re: England v Belgium
The problem that both Rice and Henderson have is that Southgate clearly doesn’t want them to carry the ball. For their clubs they both play more creative passes and are comfortable running with it, but for england they both get rid of it ASAP. Shocking manager who is way out of his depth.

Worse game I’ve seen Rice play in an England shirt.

claretandbluedagger 7:45 Sun Oct 11
Re: England v Belgium
Rice started well, nicked the ball off of KDB a few times early on, but started to struggle a bit. No doubt the twitter “experts” will pin the blame on him but he’s been better than Dier, Mount, Trippier, TAA, Rashford, and a few of the others too
